Review of A History of Violence (2005) by Jennifer M — 30 Apr 2013
The film (being the last motion picture to be released on VHS) raises chilling questions about violence and heroism. It's an interesting turn for David Cronenberg's filmography, when he previously explored themes of intimate fears and guilts through gory horror and surreal science-fiction.
The subject matter and the actors' performances in A History of Violence manages to keep it's head above the water despite it's stiff and clichè dialogue.
