Review of A Haunted House (1975) by Adrian B — 08 May 2013
I honestly didn't know that when I rented "A Haunted House," I'd be giving it a 3 star review after. Actually, I had predicted that I would end up giving it a 1 or 2 star rating. But, Marlon Wayans has always been a favorite of mine, at least when it came to the first 2 "Scary Movie" films.
He definitely made those films, and "A Haunted House" being written by Wayons, definitely had some good laughs because of that sole factor. The acting as you'd expect isn't good, but in a parody movie based off of the "Paranormal Activity" films, it's what you'd expect.
Goofy performances from Wayans, David Koechner, and Nick Swardson secured the 3 stars for me. I like all of them, and have for quite some time now. With a few really gut busting laughs, and some odd ones, the movie didn't do a great job, but it'll keep you entertained for the whopping 1 hour and 26 minute run time.
I will say this though, it is a hell of a lot better than the last 3 "Scary Movie" films, so that's saying something for Wayons. 3/5 JD.
