Review of A Haunted House (1975) by Andrew S — 30 Nov 2013
Not the train wreck people are making it out to be, but at the beginning of the movie it was a struggle, it does get easier later.
The problem is this is a faithful parody of Paranormal Activity, and only PA, not a lot to work with, a movie series itself that is repetitive, super slow paced (there's slow, then there's PA slow!), and ultimately leaves viewers wanting more and being let down.
While it undoubtedly deserves a send up, being the main focus is just not enough, you can tell because its the very end that's the funniest part, just like in PA it picks up at the end (maybe that's also part of the parody) and they throw in the Exorcist too, which was pretty good.
So remember what film it's parodying and be patient, just like PA you have to suffer through the first half, but at least at the end of this film, you're laughing or at least chuckled a bit, better than PA. Worth a rental if you're too busy at the cinema with other films.
