Review of A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints (2006) by Kendra E — 24 Jul 2008
Quite a good film, but overall it not nearly tight enough nor well paced. However, you can tell that the director/writer cares about all the characters (since it's based on his own experiences). The 70's style of filmmaking works to a point but the really gem here is the actors with LeBeouf stealing the show.
Personally I fancy similar themed films like Kids and even though I can tell that it's a good effort, it remained too distanced and never really touched me. Recommendable if you've never seen another kids-in-the-streets-coming-of-age-story or dig the genre.
