Review of A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints (2006) by Christopher F — 11 Apr 2009
We need more people to produce movies like this. Movies need to have a heart. When you see the cast line up you can tell that the right people still see this as evident. No one wanted to make this movie so in steps Robert Downey Jr.
He understands, Shia he gets it- movies like this would just be another indie contender wishing it wasn't with out them. Because they were on the cover, along with Rosario Dawson I bit hook line and sinker- didn't really need to read the synopsis.
I expect these actors to tow the line and that's what they did! You can judge a movie by it's cover when the right actors are present. When you watch it, you get a good feel for NY, the 80's, growing up, forgiving, pain, detachment, running away.
The scope is narrow- right to the point. Life sometimes throws nothing but curves at you, so you have to get use to it. I watched this and Flashback of a Fool back to back- I suggest you do the same.
