Review of A Goofy Movie (1995) by Ian E — 28 Apr 2013
As a kid I loved this movie, but for some reason blanked completely in the middle of the movie. I saw this years later and suddenly realized it. This movie is extremely mediocre. There are is a great musical number with goofy about singing on the open road, its really the highlight of the movie, except its about 30 minutes in and that's not good. The movie does seem a tad forced and incredibly stretched, but its a goofy movie. Remember when movies were fun and entertaining? Remember when we were kids and movies like this were the definition of the 90's? Well I do. This movie is also packed with Disney references which was a nice touch.
The movie has a great message within it and that's the bond between a father and son that is usually strained as the son gets older. Everyone adjusts in different ways, its a tale about a teen trying to be better than ordinary, and trying to be "Cool" when he has the dorkiest dad in the town. Its a movie about growing up and its a decent one at that. This is really a feel good movie and I recommend it for the kids. Because that's what its all about the kids. So find that old VHS of this one, blow off the dust and fire that badboy up and let the nostalgia flow.
