Review of A Good Year (2006) by Adam K — 28 Jun 2009
Nice little film, nothing spectacular. Watched it on the suggestion of my roommate who loves it. Even though his taste in movies is all over the place, I thought I'd at least check it out. I can't help but wonder why there weren't more breathtaking shots in a film set in French wine country.
This was my introduction to Marion Cotillard, just in time for Public Enemies Wednesday, and what a great intro for me. She was a wonder to behold. Not much in the performance, not that it was bad, just not exactly a dynamic role, but she is a vision as Crowe's character proclaims.
But her character doesn't play a big enough role soon enough in the film. There are other small issues that I had with this, although no real major issues. But added up it wasn't great, wasn't bad.
