Review of A Good Year (2006) by Cecilia B — 07 Aug 2010
A good year, Ridley Scott's so called romantic drama set in the Exotic Provence and in London was visually delighting. With some blow you down performances from Russell Crowe, Albert Finney and Didier Bourdon who are well supported by Marion Cotillard, Isabelle Candelier and Abbie Cornish, A Good Year still couldn't capture my senses. There are some few really good scenes built up in the movie, but yet you feel there is something that the movie is missing. The feel which should have played the major part for movies of this sort, I felt couldn't adorn the movie.
Freddie Highmore was pretty good and Archie Punjabi's accent was lovely. It was more like take a break and "SPEND YOUR HOLIDAY" kind of film. The details are precise, but most of the time you will find Crowe confused as to what he's supposed to do next. The photography was stunning with some unforgettable locales, A good year could still have done better.
