Review of A Good Year (2006) by Sylvia G — 03 Oct 2009
A big surprise for me by Ridley Scott. A light and crispy summer comedy that is very likable with a good plot, very good casting and smart direction. I never would have imagined R. Crowe and M. Cotillard together in a film, but they have some awesome chemistry in it.
In the middle, when the "half-cousin" shows up the story paradoxically slows down a bit and becomes less enjoyable. In the last 25 minutes or so it picks up speed again and is dynamic to the end.
Some good and funny dialogues, Crowe's loose and comfortable play, the great scenery of Provence and Scott's direction make you forget how clumsy the title is.
