Review of A Good Year (2006) by Johannes S — 19 Oct 2009
Lighthearted and in some respects lightweight but beautiful visually as is every Ridley Scott movie and Russell Crowe and Marion Cotillard do a fine job being in less dramatic roles than they are otherwise known for.
Low key feelgood story alters with low tempo sentimentalism, cold materialistic sarcasm, slapstick and gently harsh-edged bouts of l'amour in sunny Provence. Simple story with straightforward wit and packaged in visual beauty.
