Review of A Good Woman (2004) by Lisa W — 18 Jan 2008
Some great quotes in this film but from Oscar Wilde you would assume as much. I think Helen Hunt was mis-casted by 5-years or 20 pounds (she needed to eat some craft service I think) but I will say I never hated the film or felt bored.
I know thats not a glowing reveiw but its not meant to be one either. I feel sometimes the "period" part of period films gets in the way. Instead of making the best movie they can, they match the period first then try to make a good movie.
People need to learn just to looked dated doesn't mean you have to feel dated. The filmmaking feels very controled and the world very shallow. They could of pulled a page from "The Assassnation of Jesse James".
