Review of A Good Woman (2004) by Carmen Y — 03 Apr 2010
I think Helen Hunt is a crappy actress (and seemed almost full of herself, not just as a character, but youknow) and didn't pull off a 1930's female well, and the same goes for Scarlett (though she wasn't full of herself, just seemingly ohsodifferent, except not really).
They should've cast better leading ladies. Sure, it did have a twist, but...still. And honestly, the entire time that he was allegedly cheating on her with Helen, it really did seem like it. I believe he buttoned up his shirt at one point? Let me guess, was that after whipping out his fatass checkbook? No.
The implications were there to make the movie seem reaaaally good (GASP! how could he cheat!) and then when you find out what's really going on....you're like..............what the f? The basis of the movie is just stupid.
It had potential, really. I mean, if there were different characters and a different plotline.
