Review of A Good Day to Die Hard (2013) by Russ O — 24 Aug 2013
Dear 20th Century Fox,.
Long time fan, first time correspondent. Should you feel the need to make Die Hard 6 I have a few thoughts:
1) Go back and watch the first 2 film. Learn what it means to be a Die Hard film. Who is John McClane? Why does he do what he does?
2) Remember there has to be a compelling bad guy. Someone who is bat shit crazy but has a plan. Who is scary, and we can see it. Not have to be told by Silent Bob how much of a badass he is, or be no more than a guy with a beard.
3) Get a director that understands action, and real action at that, no the CGI Chernobyl bills hit that goes down at the end of this film. Had you seen Max Payne?
4) Do not let Bruce Willis turn up to set in his own clothes and claim to be in costume. He's done it in the last 2 Die Hards. GI Joe and RED 2 and now it's getting embarrassing.
5)John McClane's thing is to quip. Saying "Jesus" a lot is not quipping.
I'm not against cheesy action films every now and then, but continuing to call these films Die Hards taints what has gone before.
Sincerely,.
A concerned movie goer.
