Review of A Good Day to Die Hard (2013) by Philip S — 07 Jun 2015
It isn't the worst action movie you'll see, it's just that it's completely unnecessary. Nothing about this movie says "Die Hard" other than the smirk on Bruce Willis' face.
Even the trademark catchphrase is gone. But I do give the movie some credit: the rapport between father and son is actually decent (Jai Courtney is surprisingly effective) and the car chases are well done - there are messy accidents and bad choices, not the slick driving you'd see in, say, a Bond flick.
And the twists are not bad; it's just that the stakes are a bit ridiculous. Overall, fans of the franchise might not hate it, but, man, don't we all miss the original?
