Review of A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night (2014) by Ben M — 11 Sep 2015
There are moments of this movie that are pretty. There are moments that are well constructed. However they're lost under a mountain of stylistic "look at me" parts that are desperate to be cool at the expense of character, pace and story.
It is torturously slow, the characters are shallow ciphers with no subtlety, and any attempt to make it "pulpy" is ruined by direct rip offs of shots from better films that add nothing to the story.
A perfect exercise of empty, meaningless hipsterism.
