Review of A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night (2014) by Syed Hammad H — 02 Jun 2015
In an small Iranian town called Bad City, a female vampire walks the streets at night feeding on the town's degenerates.
Ana Lily Amirour's debut film is a stunning mix of genre from Western to horror to 50s melodrama, but has pulp at its heart. Filmed in black and white, shot in America, set in Iran. The result is a perfect blend of timelessness. Gorgeous cinematography. The cast of virtual unknowns handle the sparse script with great affect.
What it lacks in story , it more than makes up for in visual flair. a director to keep an eye on. A film to seek out.
