In the Iranian ghost-town Bad City, a place that reeks of death and loneliness, the townspeople are unaware they are being stalked by a lonesome vampire. [IMDb].

Finally a vampire film that I can sink my teeth into. A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night is the biggest surprise of 2014 for me. This is one of the best directorial debuts of the 2010's and my absolute favorite vampire flick. But be warned, this is not your typical take on the traditional vampire film. This is a wholly original idea and it must be treasured. I love it so damn much and I couldn't recommend it enough to film buffs and Jim Jarmusch fans.

I can gush about this film for days on end, I don't even have a single flaw with it. It's filled with these haunting little things that have a special place in my heart. The soundtrack is perfectly crafted, being as diverse as it is in its musical styles, it works so well. The cinematography by Lyle Vincent deserves praise too, the monochrome look of the film compliments his beautiful shots. There's some truly genius lines in the movie's script that I drool over and I don't know why. The characters were flawless and I really enjoyed watching them bring this film to life.

Now, real talk. The Girl. Sheila Vand. I think I'm in love with her and if she decided to turn me into a vampire, I would be quite alright with it. And Arash Marandi, that guy is straight-up electric. I need to see him in more stuff immediately. He knocked it out of the ball-park with his performance. And that cat. That fucking cat is so fat and cute. I love you, Masuka. You are my spirit animal.

This movie is a cross between noir films, art-house, westerns and vampire films. The best part is that it all compliments each other so well and it reels you in then sucks you dry like Dracula. A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night is a must-see. Check it out asap. Highly recommended.
