An exercise of patience that starts with Rooney Mara eating pie for five minutes straight (seriously) then continuing-relentlessly-to follow a ghost as it waits around in a single location like a dog waiting for its owner with no sense of how much time has past.

I will admit the movie had some subtle beauty to it in terms of soundtrack and mise en scéne and a certain sorrow that almost makes the movie worth it, until you realize the protagonist is a ghost waiting around for the right thing to happen...

This is one of those movies that would make a great short film (35 minutes max) or a well written short story. Sure some can argue it's about One's desire to endure, or fear of letting go, or even One's yearning for understanding, but to me it appears to be the result of the writer's contemplation on "Do spirits have a good sense of time?" And "Are they attached to a location in space regardless of Earthly boundaries?".

The acting is solid (as expected form Rooney Mara and Casey Affleck), but there's not much in terms of dialogue. Like I said, there's a lot of waiting around.
