Review of A Foreign Affair (1948) by Matt M — 14 Mar 2013
Wilder sets his film noir in post second world war Berlin, with American soldiers controlling the city, and tells the story of a love affair between an American soldier and a German show girl with a darker past.
The screenplay often tangles and is not very convincing, though with time it has served as an archetype for many films that have re-used the plot in one way or another. Wilder also takes advantage of the talented cast and makes use of some nice photography.
