Review of A Fish Called Wanda (1988) by C.j. A — 06 Jun 2010
The double-crosses and shifting alliances pile on in the first act, but by the second act the story settles into a comfortable machine of physical comedy, improbable romance, and (oddly) cartoonish violence toward animals.
The wit and humor is plenty, but the momentum dwindles and the movie ends at almost the exact moment the plot finally runs out of steam. Also, this is one of those things like 'Veronica Mars' where if it had a more genre-specific title, I would have watched it sooner.
"A Fish Called Wanda"? How is that a title for a comedy about thieves?
