Review of A Fish Called Wanda (1988) by Gavin S — 09 Feb 2014
This is one of those movies that was big when I was in elementary school, and supposedly hilarious. However, I never saw it until just now, and some of it reeks of the 80s. That being said, with all the talent involved, it's still got some funny and ridiculous parts, and on the whole was enjoyable.
This would for sure have been funnier if I was younger with some of the visual stuff, yet I still laughed at Cleese and Palin. How Kevin Kline won an Oscar for this I'll never know, but when you see who he was up against, it makes more sense.
Solid enough caper film, and I suppose in that sense, it is like a more ridiculous Cary Grant movie. (Cleese's character is even called Archie Leach - Grant's real name.
