A bit of a different presentation of some archival film taken in the Warsaw ghetto in 1942. Originally only four reels of this film were found and a great deal of the footage has been seen in snippets in various other films and newsreels pertaining to the war. A fifth reel was found later which consisted of various other takes of scenes in the first four reels.

The narrators portray a sinister propaganda purpose for the film; however, it is not known, nor revealed, what the actual purpose of the film is.

Still, while the producers of this documentary note often the fact that the majority of the film was staged to show better than actual conditions in the ghetto, I'm not sure why any nefarious purpose for the film is being questioned - the scenes themselves, even if falsified, are poignant enough. After all, scenes of emaciated men, women and children cannot be hidden when juxtaposed with scenes of well fed individuals dining. Additionally, the majority of the film, regardless of whether staged or not, becomes almost moot once the scenes of corpses being carted away and buried en masse are shown toward the end of the film.

Still, a story well told; albeit one we have heard and seen many times.
