Review of A Field in England (2013) by Craig D — 22 Feb 2014
The operatic cinematic effects string along some promise of continuity, but here the whole is an exact sum of its parts. It has all the nuances of an impressive art film, leaving you reluctant to crucify it for being painfully misdirecting, difficult to watch, hear, and the closest you will come to a film-induced seizure (seriously, there is a warning).
If you still venture in for the prospect of the trippy visuals, it is not an easy ride up this mountain of swiss cheese. It's in full monochrome too, which lends to the feeling that you are enslaved too.
I would only watch if you have the means to tune out/ walk away, because this isn't a movie, it's a chore with traces of an inspired director.
