Review of A Few Good Men (1992) by Waleed A — 24 May 2018
Powerful.... powerful. beastly movie. very well made. smart. engaging throughout. I was hooked immediately. awesome acting with amazing dialogue combined for multiple goosebumpy moments. funny, witty, likable characters across the board, and the ones you don't like are just as awesome. made me feel for the characters. lots of great emotional moments as well as generally powerful moments... my jaw dropped in a few scenes. I knew I liked this movie from watching it in the past when it was on TV, but I am honestly shocked at how much I enjoyed a movie that's not only old, but not my kind of movie. old movie attributes were kept to a minimum. (about 3 viewings).
SPOILERS.
They made it to the end of the movie without a bad old movie attribute. dawson turns to salute tom cruise, which is a call back to earlier when he wouldn't. it worked perfectly, until he had to actually say "there's an officer on deck" to remind dumber audience members that tom cruise said that to him earlier, just in case you forgot... it didn't ruin the scene tho. I was too into it, enjoying lots of emotions, joy, sadness, triumph. I felt so bad when they were dishonorably discharged. you knew how it would affect them before they reacted. they set it up well. you feel for them. great job move makers.
