Review of A Few Good Men (1992) by Joseph S — 01 Oct 2011
Opening on some impressive rifle drills, the film tells the story of two Marines charged with the murder of a fellow Marine and how their lawyer struggles as he prepares to defend the two. This is a story and character based movie. Tom Cruise is great as the lawyer, you can see the stress he goes through and you really want to see him win the case and throughout the movie his effectiveness as a lawyer also improves. Demi Moore, Kevin Bacon, Kevin Pollack, Wolfgang Bodison and J.T. Walsh all fill their roles out well. Jack Nicholson gives his usual great performance and you can't take your eyes off him when he's on screen.
My favorite part is the final courtroom scene between Cruise and Nicholson. It's so suspenseful and the tension is rising and rising. I love it when Nicholson says his famous line ("You can't handle the truth!"). It's one of my favorite scenes in a film, ever.
