Review of A Few Good Men (1992) by Ben L — 14 Mar 2012
There are few movies that I quote as frequently as this one. That is a testament to how iconic this movie has become. Surprisingly, it's not just the most famous lines that I find quotable, but even minor comments that the characters make. I can't resist all the humorous lines they mixed into this very dramatic film. Of course the great script isn't the only thing that I find irresistible here.
The cast is second to none. I think this is the film that proved to me that Tom Cruise has serious acting talent. Some people give him a hard time because he has gone a little crazy in his personal life, but that shouldn't cause his talent to be discounted. On the opposite side of this film is the always amazing Jack Nicholson, who plays a jerk better than anyone I know (yes, that's a compliment.).
I don't think I've ever watched a better courtroom drama. The story is amazing, and the execution is perfect. There are so many exciting plot twists, and even up to the end they keep the viewers on the edge of their seats. I've never been able to stop watching this movie, any time I catch part of it I have to watch until the end. That's the sign of a great movie in my book. A Few Good Men is definitely a top-tier film that never disappoints.
