Review of A Few Good Men (1992) by Robert F — 20 Aug 2010
This was a good movie. Strong acting, compelling story, twists and turns here and there. A very good Courtroom Drama.
This movie is about two marines who are charged with murdering another marine. It stars Tom Cruise, playing a lackadaisical lawyer, who is trying his hardest to find some kind of case for these two men, which is, unfortunately, not an easy task. Demi Moore stars as a kind of assistant (though a superior officer) to Cruise's character, trying to get him to focus on their case and giving some much needed hope for a seemingly hopeless case. Jack Nicholson stars as the Commander of the Marines who, unfortunately, doesn't have a lot of screen time.
Tom Cruise does a bang-up job in this role. He played some great dynamic scenes in the film, where he goes from non-caring, to strong intensity in the courtroom, and not to mention a drunken emotional breakdown. But who really stole the show in one scene was my man, Jack Nicholson. I'm sure everyone here is familiar with the quote, "You can't handle the truth!" This movie is where it came from. Jack's performance in the final courtroom scene keeps your eyes glued to the screen and your ears hearing only what's coming out of his mouth. Truly a compelling performance.
Check the film out, you won't regret it. Oh, and Demi Moore looks good in uniform.
