Review of A Fantastic Woman (2017) by Jack R — 22 May 2018
This is a melodramatic advocacy film, which gets a big rating from effete critics who promote themselves as having superior sensibilities, and even from viewers, because it makes a lurid story about a sex-change a message movie about "Transphobia!" It's a gimmick wrapped in pompous platitudes.
Tranies are a rather silly niche, who don't rate a movie treatment, but the perversity is the hook and therefore commercial, especially amongst the Spanish set, as attested by the likes of Almodóvar.
