Review of A Family Man (2016) by Ginny L — 01 Jul 2017
I am surprised about all the negative reviews, frankly. Yes, it is the typical redemption, story, predictable in that way, but there are so many unpredictibilities about it, that makes the story unique.
I will not give this moments away, and I will not diminish them by commenting. As for Butler's acting, I found him quite believable as a man who finds himself at odds with the man who he believes he is expected to be while being resented for the sacrifices it requires of him.
The difference between him and his competition at work was expressed without preaching the moral distinction. There were multiple unique peripheral relationships that did nothing but add to the character's growth and the story development.
When a movie can make this hard old lady cry tears of sadness and triumph, well, I call it a success.
