Review of A Face in the Crowd (1957) by Susan P — 15 Jun 2011
Andy Griffith's first movie role, and he plays an asshole who can sing and also con anyone into anything. The woman who hired George Peppard in "Breakfast at Tiffany's" hires him to be on the radio and he basically makes himself a star (with her help).
It's about the rise and fall of fame, the fickleness of the media, how easily people are manipulated, deepish themes such as that. It's entertaining and really fabulous, I don't know why I never heard of it before.
Thanks TCM and Chris Isaak!
