Boo and hiss to the critics on this one.
Yes, it's manipulative.
Yes it's sweet and sugary.
Yes, you can see the ending coming a mile away, but..
Dogs.
We love dogs and dogs love us. Does anybody go to movie like this expecting to find a canine version of Kevin Spacey's Frank Underwood from "House of Cards"? I don't think so. We want to see the loyal friend, the brave K-9, the loving companion.
It's ok to have a heart, to love a dog and to let a movie manipulate you for a couple of hours. Unless you're a film critic, I guess.
