Review of A Dog's Purpose (2017) by Dawson B — 31 Jan 2017
A great movie based upon a brilliant novel. As most such movies are, it has been adapted and thus is not a mirror image of the book. Nevertheless, if you love dogs or just want to see something truly different, then this movie is the one you want. Go see it, see it several times. The love of dogs just pours off the screen and it seems genuine and heartfelt by the film makers. Subsequent interviews and articles confirm this - just see one of Dennis Quaid's recent interviews for the film, for example, and you will have zero doubt about this.
The movie moves at a brisk pace, almost too briskly sometimes, and time flew in the theater. A few laughs, some genuine cries or lumps in the throat - you can't ask for better and it's that rare movie that's open to everyone. Go see it!
