I lost track of how many times I cried in this movie, but it was a lot (even for me, a professional crier): it was a sweet and touching movie. That's where the praise ends.

While great at being sentimental, A Dog's Purpose lacked substance in plot and point and I was left wondering what the purpose of the movie was (probably to make people like me cry actually).

In conclusion, it's a nice movie to take your kids to for their birthday, but not if you want cinematic genius, meaningful commentary or, apparently, ethical treatment of animal actors.
