Review of A Dog's Purpose (2017) by Alan S — 27 Jan 2017
This is a movie for people who love dogs, and if you are one of those people, then it's a must-see movie. Don't wait. Go see this movie. The story is based on the book of the same name, which was released in 2010, and revolves around the idea that dogs are reincarnated with each life.
Dogs aren't with us very long, but, the premise of the movie, is that they're around longer than we think -- reemerging in a new life. The star of this book, and now movie, continues through several lives trying to find his purpose.
The movie spans over five decades, so you see a lot of dog's lives during the movie. And, yes, there are some sad scenes -- one more than others, but the joy of watching this movie was not lessened by the obligatory sad scenes.
In fact, I left the movie remembering the funny scenes. It was one of the best movies I've seen in a long time, and I go to the movies almost every week. I just loved it, and I went home and loved my dog, too.
Go see it. It's worth it -- even if might shed a few tears. I guarantee you will laugh more, because, heck, dogs are funny and lovable.
