Review of A Dog's Breakfast (2007) by Jorge T — 23 Jun 2009
Most comedies today can be reduced to a few quotes and can be described as a poorly written parody. This movie would be the exception that proves the rule. It is truly a hilarious movie that doesn't rely on making fun of other movies or celebrities. It instead has a great script which takes Patrick through a multitude of awkward and down right weird situations which always manages to leave you laughing and adds to his misery. It stays funny even during repeat watchings because of the numerous details that gives an extra laugh.
The acting is what really carries this film. The real life brother/sister relationship between Kate and David Hewlett is brought to the film in every seen they have together. Even Mars (the dog) gives a better performance than most actors in comedies in recent years. Appearances by actors from the Stargate franchise make some is an added bonus for fans of SG-1 and SG-Atlantis.
Overall it is a great film with fantastic acting, a well written script and well thought out characters. I love this movie and watch every time I need a good laugh. I hope you enjoy the film as much as I have.
