Review of A Dog's Breakfast (2007) by Debra K — 23 Jun 2009
I'm a huge fan of Stargate, but seeing my favorite actors outside of a Sci-Fi setting was *not* something I was looking forward to. Imagine my surprise when the storyline took a very Sci-Fi-ish turn. I enjoyed every unexpected twist and turn in this well-written and well-acted movie.
David and Kate Hewlett are always a treat when they work together, and A Dog's Breakfast is no exception. The sibling ribbing, rivalry, and the whole relationship in general are very believable and spot-on.
I have recommended it to all of my family members, forcing it upon those unwilling among them. All of them were, of course, delighted by the clever writing and brilliant acting! My sister even remarked how much Marilyn and Patrick's relationship resembled our own. And my mother thought it was a bit predictable, but she's a tough woman to please and she enjoyed it in spite of predicting the ending fifteen minutes before the big reveal.
