Review of A Delicate Balance (1973) by Private U — 21 Mar 2008
It ain't for everyone, that' s for sure. Still, watching Kate Reid, Katharine Hepburn, the late Paul Scofield and everyone else in this move making the absurdist poetry of Albee's dialog seem effortless and natural makes the whole "work" of it so very much worth it - "A alcoholic!!!!!" Genius.
If you think Hepburn isn't at all natural, watch her interview on the Dick Cavett show where she plugs this project.... and then watch her as Agnes... she's so ... brilliant - understated and fully intellectualized.
