Review of A Decade Under the Influence (2003) by Stephanie A — 04 Oct 2005
Just edgy today... hmm think I need some coffee.
I just saw this movie last night and it was great. the interviews were mostly compelling, the clips were just wonderful, and it opened my eyes to certain films which I must, must see and haven't yet:
The french connection.
5 easy pieces.
Midnight cowboy.
Last picture show.
Targets.
They really detail the influence of foreign filmakers like godard and truffaut (the movie opens with a truffaut quote) and the social background of the late 60s going into the 70s.
But the movie's heart is American cinema of the 1970s. Schlessinger, Hopper, DePalma, Coppola. Great stuff.
I gave it an 8 because the ending kind of left me hanging. there was no real climax, but lots and lots of foreplay ;).
