Review of A Day at the Races (1937) by Josh M — 30 Mar 2010
No where near as endurable now as when I watched it ad nauseum as a kid. The Marx Brothers themselves are still pretty funny. The comic timing they exhibit is astonishing. This one is just too long! The usual plot and musical numbers(except Chico and Harpo's) completely get in the way of all the really inventive and funny stuff.
Groucho, as usual, has all the best lines. Like when he's taking Harpo's pulse and says, "He's either dead or my watch has stopped." Anyway "A Night at the Opera" is better.
