Review of A Date for Mad Mary (2016) by John W — 09 Jan 2018
On the surface, the plot of this movie is straightforward: Mary, a feisty and somewhat socially-inept girl, is released from prison and comes home to be maid of honor in her best friend's wedding. In actuality, the movie is about relationships and does an excellent job exploring Mary's relationships with men, her best friend who turns out to be pushy and domineering, and with a gentle lesbian photographer who in the end is most sympathetic and kind to Mary.
Seana Kerslake does an outstanding job playing the role of Mary.
