Review of A Dangerous Method (2011) by Matthew L — 08 Apr 2012
I'm a huge Cronenberg fan, and I wanted this to work. For the first half it did, exploring interesting psychological themes and maintaining a sense of narrative. The second half was less tight and the Freud/Jung conflict was covered in a dull manner by way of exchange of letters.
Cronenberg has explored psychology in more compelling movies like Crash and Dead Ringers. A Dangerous Method is one of his less successful outings.
