Review of A Dangerous Method (2011) by Eric B — 26 Apr 2012
My pre-existing fears were confirmed: The premise of "A Dangerous Method" is just too dry to yield an engaging movie. Impeccable direction (David Cronenberg) and acting (Michael Fassbender, Viggo Mortensen) can't overcome the fundamental problem of dramatizing two refined intellectuals whose life is devoted to perceiving emotion as detached observers.
Perhaps the film would have more heat if the story included more case studies beyond Keira Knightley's shrill Sabina.
