Review of A Dangerous Method (2011) by J Brigham H — 21 Jul 2012
A DANGEROUS METHOD is a film that probably won't interest viewers that don't already have an interest in the psychoanalysis subject. However, for those with an interest in Freudian and Jungian theories and early psychology, this film is a very fascinating and rewarding experience.
It's more dialogue driven than previous Cronenberg films, but maintains the effective use of emotion that he's proven to be adept at. The performances are fine all around, but the standout is Knightley who does what's probably her best work yet as the sexually disturbed subject of Jung's interests.
It's an abnormally intellectual film.
