(2011) A Dangerous Method.
PSYCHOLOGICAL DRAMA.
Movie is based on two sources, the play called "The Talking Cure" by Christopher Hampton who also adapted his own screenplay, and "A Most Dangerous Method" by John Kerr with patient Sabina Spielrein (Keira Knightley) being subdued and brought in to an institution, and she is hysterical. After calming down after conversing with doctor Carl Jung (Michael Fassbender) for a few sessions using Freud's "Dangerous Method", Sabina then decides to get into the psychology profession herself. And it was during that time, Carl Jung didn't know how to become faithful since he's already married with three children and takes Sabina as his mistress. Freud(Viggo Mortensen) is already a household name at the time, and former colleague and friend Carl Jung is striving to take over his profession which Freud would not allow to happen.
As talented as Keira Knightley is, this is not one of her better performances for she sometimes seems to be slightly off in terms of the character she's portraying but it's just so she can add another role into her resume despite not being entirely convincing as the lunatic and then mistress but overall it's nice to see another thinking film with Mortensen and Fassbender matching each others wits warrants this film watchable.
2 out of 4 stars.
