Review of A Cure for Wellness (2017) by Alan W — 21 Jun 2017
Gore Verbinski's latest is a slickly shot and pristine looking film that fails in every other aspects. Too pretentious to be scary while the story is too preposterous and corny to work as drama, it has a poor man's Leonardo DiCaprio, Dane DeHaan, as an unappealing lead and that is before we get to the obnoxious character he is made to play.
The nonsensical of an ending is so camp and ridiculous, I can only assume Jason Issacs must think he is in a different movie and plays it for laughs. This would have got ? 1/2 normally but being needlessly over 2 1/2 hours long, it drops to a one.
