Review of A Cure for Wellness (2017) by Alyssa B — 20 Feb 2017
A movie with a comparable amount of layers and symbolism to inception: Most of it will fly over your head on your initial viewing, making the movie seem needlessly lengthy and random, as well as filled with plot holes.
A bizarre and polished dance through Gothic horror, A Cure for Wellness is a curious movie that is not for the faint of heart nor a first date outing. The acting, visuals, and soundtrack are spectacular.
It was a bold move by Verbinski that worked well in some ways but fell flat in others. Enjoyed initial viewing and discourse with others who had seen it, but would likely not watch again. Would recommend to those without strong aversion to body horror, who are horror aficionados, and do not mind winding lengthy plots.
