Review of A Countess from Hong Kong (1967) by Ted W — 12 Nov 2015
It's sad for a genius to go out on such an underwhelming work. I can see this being a better movie if it had been made 20 years before the swinging 60's. Loren and Brando are woefully out of place in this type of comedy and Chaplin's musical sensibilities don't assist it one bit.
Even Chaplin looks tired in his cameo (back to playing a steward after playing one for Gillette as Sherlock Holmes half a century prior).
