Review of A Clockwork Orange (1971) by Connor A — 20 May 2014
It's always astounding how Kubrick consistently establishes all his works as unique, self standing works. A Clockwork Orange comes under the category of films that are somewhat genreless, the kind of films that are generally considered film art because their characteristics are not confined to conform to any particular genre.
A Clockwork Orange makes several huge social and political statements regarding the attempted affecting of one's free will, the influence of public opinion and, to a larger extent, the concept of karma.
McDowell is impeccable in the role of Alex, the cinematography is masterful and the film boasts a charisma that can and never has been replicated.
