Review of A Clockwork Orange (1971) by Dylan P — 21 Apr 2016
For me, Kubrick's absolute masterpiece. Unique, challenging, philosophical, brilliant and a complete contradiction to 2001, which came beforehand, and Barry Lyndon, Kubrick's highly underrated follow-up.
This film has one of the most perfect scripts in terms of dialogue and brilliance (kudos to Anthony Burgess for providing the source material). Also essential to recognise is Malcolm McDowell's OSCAR deserving performance.
Gene Hackman's great, but Jesus not even a nomination for Best Actor? A masterpiece.
