I really didn't expect to like this film. I personally didn't like 2001 one a space odyssey, another Stanley Kubrick film and found the Shinning to be barely watchable. Both these films lacked a sensible story and it felt ludicrous, but this film has a sensible story, social commentary and dark tone. Some people might not like it due to various reasons like all those rapes and violence, but I didn't really care since the nude scenes were not as bad as the ones in The Shinning. It's not a fault disliking this film for that reason, but there can't be a denial in the fact that this is one of Kubrick's best film and that this film is extremely disturbing. The only problem that I felt here was the weakness in the ending, the entire film was about social commentary, dark themes and an unusual lead, but still the ending is immoral.
